We are a group of students from Andover High School and Lahser High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Each year we build a robot to compete in FIRST Robotics Competitions. Our team number is 2834 and we are called the Bionic Barons.
2009 was our first year in this program. Despite having a small team of 7 students, we did very well in the two Michigan district events and qualified for the Michigan State Championship and then the World Championship in Atlanta, Georgia. This year we have a total of 26 students.
Every year, a new game challenge is revealed in early January and we have about 6 weeks to design and build our robot. One thing that is unique about this program is that high school students work side by side with real world engineers who inspire the students on the skills they would acquire by going into fields of science and technology.
To make this program a success requires partnership from our generous sponsors who donate money to pay for various expenses, our school district that supports and encourages us, engineers and mentors who work tirelessly with us and a wonderful group of parents who help with many other tasks.
If you attend one of the high schools within our school district, you are welcome to join the robotics team. New members are welcome to apply in September and the robotics team is usually formed by mid October. Come back to this page when school starts in the fall and you will find membership information at that time.
